Part III. Data-Management Tasks

This part discusses tasks and techniques you can use to manage data on a SpinServer system. It is organized into the following chapters:

Chapter 8 provides information on setting up and managing clusters.

Chapter 9 provides information on setting up and managing ports and network interfaces.

Chapter 10 provides information on managing RAID components that are used to store data on the SpinServer system.

Chapter 11 provides information on setting up and managing storage units and storage pools. It also provides information on setting up and managing a high-availability (HA) system.

Chapter 12 provides information on creating and managing virtual servers.

Chapter 13 provides information on setting up and managing virtual file systems (VFSs), which are the basic units of storage in the SpinServer model.

Chapter 14 provides information on setting up a SpinServer system to use the Common Internet File System (CIFS).

Chapter 15 provides information on mapping CIFS users and Network File Systems (NFS) users so that users of the two different protocols can share data.

Chapter 16 provides information on setting up and managing Kerberos authentication on a SpinServer system.

Chapter 17 discusses using the SpinAV component to protect data on your SpinServer system from viruses.

Chapter 18 provides information on configuring a SpinServer system to use a third-party backup and restore mechanism.

Chapter 19 provides information on recovering data after a catastrophic event such as a storage pool failure.
